However, it is possible to visit the Amalfi Coast on a budget, and it's well worth the trip.In addition to super expensive accommodations, expect bloated tourist prices at restaurants and cafes, where meals will run you €50 on average and an espresso can cost upwards of €5 (compared to €1 in most of Italy). And yet, the Amalfi Coast is irresistible.Amalfi, named after the coast, boasts a stunning cathedral and a rich maritime history. Ravello, perched high above the sea, is renowned for its classical music festivals and panoramic gardens.

Originally wanted to explore Amalfi and neighboring towns but kept hearing Sorrento is a better base and more affordable option.

Most people who visit the Amalfi Coast will be tempted in to the azure waters at some point, and while this is definitely recommended, always be safe at sea. Pick lifeguarded beaches, if you can, and always swim within the designated areas.
