Actually when you get closer, the steep cliffs at Stirling are even more impressive than at Edinburgh Castle. Stirling Castle is excellent. Not only is is a proper old castle with some fighting history, but it's also got a lot to see inside including a regimental museum. You've also got the Wallace Monument there too, that is of course for William Wallace, Braveheart.
