I could literally walk directly up to the water and see to the bottom. I stopped through on my drive to Ljubljana so I didn't do much other than walk around the lake and take pictures. There are even areas where you are allowed to swim.
The reason Ljubljana doesn't make as perfect a base as Lake Bled is because there simply isn't enough to see and do around this capital city. Its very nice. Just not as great a base as Bled. One of the most common mistakes people do is – they try to explore Lake Bled as a day trip from Ljubljana.
