All bags will be inspected upon arrival. The Museum reserves the right to prohibit any items and to require visitors to check any bags or items. Large umbrellas may not be brought into the Museum but may be left in our umbrella rack.Outside food and drinks are prohibited in the Museum. Are backpacks allowed Please wear backpacks on the front of your chest or carry them with your hand to the side to help us keep the artwork safe.You may bring a laptop, notebooks, notes, paper, pencils, a camera, digital media, and cell phones. Cell phones must be silenced and may not be used on the sixth floor, including in reading rooms, hallways, offices, or bathrooms. Cell phones may only be used in the Cullman lobby and other public spaces.
How much time do you need to see the MoMA : two to three hours
MoMA is a temple to provocative modern art and its 1970s – Present collection deserves two to three hours of attention. Don't forget to check MoMA's opening hours and book your entrance in advance!

When we enter the Museum on 53rd Street, the first thing we will do is stop for a security check-in. Security Officers are here to keep everyone safe. Officers may check what is inside our bags, and will ask us to walk through a metal detector.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, an iconic institution famous for its extensive collection, does not offer official luggage storage, lockers, or coat check services for large bags or suitcases.
We accept bags up to 56 x 25 x 45 cm. Wheeled luggage, including cabin bags, and suitcases are not allowed. You are welcome to bring baby buggies into the Gallery.
Can I leave my bag at the Met

The scanners are designed to detect narcotics and drugs hidden in luggage or clothing. If you pass through a full-body scanner, electromagnetic waves, and radiation will provide the image of drugs on screen. If you hide something in socks, shoes, or undergarments, they are caught by the scanner.

Do magnets show up on metal detectors
Metallic magnets made of iron or iron alloyed with neodymium or cobalt have large conductivities and should be easily sensed. Ceramic-ferrite magnets on the other hand have almost no conductivity and thus won't show up.
There is a coat check at the museum where you can leave your outerwear as well as a small bag if you need to, but be aware there are often long queues. The coat check doesn't accept large bags for storage so you'll need to do that off-site before arriving.You won't find any Metropolitan Museum of Art luggage lockers. However, you can leave a backpack at the coat check service if they have room.
